POETIC SYNERGY IN THE HILLS

Steeped in rich history and heritage, this storied project unfolds on the grounds of what once was the Alpina & Savoy Hotel – a century-old, cherished destination for wanderers of the world. Preserving this sentiment, the FENDI Private Residences present a homecoming to those seeking elevated comforts that can only be experienced in the heart of the Swiss Alps.

Spanning over 6,700 square meters, the compound comprises three buildings encompassing fourteen residential units, five suites, an advanced spa facility, exceptional fine dining, unbound amenities, and considered integration with the surrounding community. Designed by renowned Italian architect Marco Costanzi – who previously developed the FENDI Private Suites in Rome – and with the expertise of Comina Architecture as the local architect of record, the architecture and the interiors of the common spaces, residences and suites showcase meticulous attention to detail, exuding elegance and sophistication.

From the smooth, carved Valmalenco stone structure of the three buildings with its elegant geometric lines –a nod to Karl Lagerfeld’s iconic FENDI Astuccio reversible fur cape from 1971 – to the warmth of floor-to-ceiling oak wood paneling indoors, soulful light installations from master of light Mario Nanni, FENDI Casa fur-clad furnishings and vibrant artworks (a select few by Karl Lagerfeld himself), every element of the project’s design plays a poetically pivotal role in setting scenes of artful hospitality and supreme comfort. The interplay of these luxurious materials and furnishings amplifies the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship, fundamental values to the FENDI brand.

Accentuating the exceptional quality of materials used in the construction of the residences, Mario Nanni’s lighting project underscores the significance of the dynamic relationship between interior and exterior spaces, achieved through a seamless fusion of natural and artificial light.

This delicate balance of light creates diverse scenic atmospheres, characterized by the interplay of light and shadow. Artificial lighting is thoughtfully integrated into the architecture, enhancing both its aesthetics and functionality.

“Rooted in the belief in the necessity of luminosity that embraces humanity, the project discreetly envelops individuals in their domestic realm, seamlessly integrating with the surrounding landscape and nature.”
Mario Nanni

Mirroring the textural intricacies of bark and snow patterns, meticulously chosen fabrics and the use of indigenous materials offer a sense of both familiarity and discovery throughout the project’s elemental makeup, embracing the surrounding forest as its muse. Contemporary yet warm, it’s this marriage of classic alpine wonders and modern accommodations that result in a vast array of uniquely elevated and idiosyncratic creature comforts for residents and guests alike. The residences, varying in size, exude warmth and hospitality. Each space has been carefully designed to establish a profound connection with the natural environment, accentuating the majestic views offered by Crans-Montana.

Grounded by an intention of adventure and opulent togetherness, the property also offers a wealth of communal spaces, designed for both tranquility and camaraderie. Warm wood detailing, precious FENDI Maison textiles and stunning custom light installations orchestrated by Mario Nanni adorn a spacious lounge beside a state-of-the-art ski service facility. All the while, a spa and pool area, seemingly carved directly into the surrounding rock, offers a serene retreat complete with sweeping mountain views. Felt throughout, a union of natural and supplemental light offers a sense of ease and contentment, radiance and rest.

“In this exclusive residential retreat, architecture, luxury, and nature intertwine, creating a living experience that transcends the ordinary. Every facet of this project reflects a commitment to excellence, where the beauty of nature meets the artistry and craftsmanship of human creation, resulting in an extraordinary haven for those who seek the coexistence of elegance and sophistication.”
Marco Costanzi

A SYMPHONY OF GREENERY

In a setting where the natural environment takes precedence, landscape design becomes pivotal. The collaboration between Swiss firm Enea Landscape Architecture with Marco Costanzi Architects ensures a seamless integration of indoor and outdoor spaces, enhancing the residents’ connection with nature at every moment of the day.

Enea Landscape Architecture, renowned for its focus on harmonizing architecture with nature, masterfully integrates the property into its surrounding landscape, providing a picturesque backdrop for every season. The concept of ’natural edges’ is carried throughout the property. Evergreen Scots pines and common hornbeam trees are methodically placed around each of the three buildings, blending seamlessly with the adjacent forest in hues of infinite autumn and rejuvenating spring. All the while, other native tree and plant species cleverly enhance mountain views, ensuring a sense of continuity and place, while climbing vines soften architectural elements and gravel paths –employing the same natural stone of the façades – meander through a meadow of wildflowers.

Through fusing the project’s site into the spirit of the existing place, the site’s ecotone is enhanced, presenting an environment where the forest meets the alpine meadow and where humans integrate with nature, creating habitats for small animals, birds, butterflies and bees, fostering the local biodiversity. Inviting residents to linger in the landscape both inside and out, the presence of natural elements is felt throughout the compound from benches along walking paths to a spa area that’s seemingly carved directly into the surrounding rock as if it was and has always been there waiting for you.
